Pleasantville, N.Y. - On Wednesday, the Adelphi University women's basketball team found itself on the losing side of an underwhelming 75-51 result at Pace University at the Goldstein Fitness Center in Pleasantville.
In their final road game of the 2022-23 campaign, the Panthers (9-15, 6-13 NE10) saw their losing skid hit five games.
Adelphi made a stellar 8-of-14 shots from the field in the opening ten minutes. Along the way, the Panthers rattled off a 9-2 run that trimmed an early deficit to 20-18 by quarter's end.
Graduate guard
Ty'zhea Hawkins, who led all Adelphi players with 14 points, hit on back-to-back jumpers to spark the run. She also assisted on an
Ali Lister lay-up in the final seconds of the quarter.
But over the next two periods, Pace (11-14, 8-10 NE10) outscored Adelphi 40-20 and the Setter lead grew to over twenty points following halftime.
Jenna Jordan and
Lauren Hammersley joined Hawkins in double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Lister and
Fiona Mannion contributed five points apiece off the bench.
Head Coach
Sade Jackson and the Panthers wrap up the 2022-23 regular season on Tuesday (Feb. 21) at home against The College of Saint Rose at 5:30 p.m. Hawkins' career will be commemorated pre-game in a Senior Night ceremony.
