Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Walton Scores 20, Men's Basketball Falls at Jefferson, 86-75

Philadelphia, PA - Despite landing more than half its shots in the second half, the Adelphi University men's basketball team suffered an 86-75 loss to Jefferson University in non-conference action on Sunday.

Dayshaun Walton made eight shots from the floor and went a perfect 4-for-4 at the free throw line to finish with a team-leading 20 points. Elijah Lewis, Conor Regan and Matthew Price all reached double-digit scoring, as they were responsible for 18, 12 and 11, respectively. Combined, the trio made six three pointers, but both teams struggled from beyond the arc.

The Rams' (2-4) lead slowly grew over the second half of the first frame when they took the lead on an Erik Timko layup at 10:05. A 19-4 run in favor of the hosts over the ensuing six minutes gave Jefferson a 14-point advantage.

Both teams landed four three-pointers in the opening half but it was Jefferson's 64.5 percent shooting from the field that allowed the home team to maintain a 46-28 lead at the half.

The home team capitalized on Panther miscues (11) in the first half, scoring 16 points while Adelphi (3-2) only managed eight.

Coming out of the break it took roughly until the 12-minute mark for the visitors to cut into their deficit, which reach at-most 22 points. A 13-4 run, capped with a Lewis fast break brought the game within five with 7:34 left in regulation.

With a 53.1 shooting percentage in the second half, Adelphi was unable to gain enough momentum to shift the game in its favor, ultimately falling 86-75. The Panthers were able to score 15 points courtesy of Ram turnovers, with Lewis notching 14 of his points in the second frame alone.

The men's basketball team will remain on the road as they head to Pace University for a conference matchup on Wednesday, Nov. 29. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. following the women's game.
