New Haven, Conn. - Upon resumption of league play for the 'Cats, the Adelphi University women's basketball team lost a 56-46 decision to NE10 rival Southern Connecticut State University Tuesday night at James Moore Fieldhouse in New Haven.
An 0-for-17 start from the field would put the Panthers (1-4, 1-1 NE10) in a 26-15 hole at the break.
The Brown and Gold turned it all around in the third quarter, using a 17-2Â run to slingshot toward a 32-30 lead.
Rolanda Robinson and
Fruzsina Horvath sparked the comeback with back-to-back threes, while
Lauren Beberman's trifecta had the visitors ahead with 2:06 left in the quarter.
Adelphi shot 7-for-15 from the field and limited SCSU to only 25.0 percent shooting in the third quarter, but still trailed 33-32 after three periods of play.
Beberman's three turned out to give the Panthers their only lead of the game, as the Brown and Gold still chased the Owls (2-2, 1-1 NE10) for the duration of the fourth quarter.
The Panthers stayed within striking distance, yet SCSU's 7-for-14 display in the fourth cemented the victory for the hosts.
Jenna Jordan finished as Adelphi's only player in double figures, scoring 13 points.
Kaitlyn O'Connell tallied seven points and four assists. Robinson stuffed the stat sheet with seven points, nine rebounds and four assists.
