Men's Golf Ties for Sixth at Metropolitan Championship

Montclair, N.J. - After wrapping up play yesterday, the Adelphi University men's golf team tied for sixth at the Metropolitan Intercollegiate Championship, hosted by Wagner College at Montclair Golf Club.

The Brown and Gold competed against ten other schools, using its leading score of 15-over 295 on Day 1 to finish at 45-over 310 at the tournament's conclusion. 

Francis Lanuza led the way for the 'Cats with an even score after the first round, tallying a total score of 6-over 146 to place sixth individually. Lanuza additionally tied for second with six birdies and third in average score on Par 5's (4.75.). Filip Wetterqvist followed closely behind with a 73 on Day 1, totaling out at 12-over 152.

Freshman Axel Romney used a strong Day 2 score of 74 to tie for the third-best team score at 155. Romney also compiled 21 pars over both days, tying for fifth overall. Alec Ramos shot the opposite score of Romney on both days, countering the newcomer's 81 and 74 with a 74 and 81 to also finish at 155 for himself. 

Sophomore Johnny Solari averaged over 80 in both rounds to wrap up his fall season with a two-day score of 161. Mason Rivera and Kobe Currie rounded out the Panther scorecard as individuals with a 162 and 169, respectively.
