Garden City, N.Y. - The month of October commenced Tuesday for the Adelphi University women's soccer team with a 5-0 rout of Pace University at Motamed Field in Garden City.
In matching their highest single-game output of 2023, the now-No. 15 nationally-ranked Panthers (8-1-1, 5-0-1 NE10) outshot the Setters, 20-4.
Now unbeaten in its previous nine games, Adelphi posted its sixth clean sheet of that stretch and limited Pace without a single shot on goal.
After a brilliant spin move by
Kayleigh Goodrich broke the seal on a scoreless game,
Dylann Trahey and
Gia Mandile took it the rest of the way,
Trahey's first of two goals on the night sent the 'Cats into halftime with a 2-0 lead, while Mandile followed with a pair in the opening 3:49 of the second half.
Mandile's two-goal game increased her career-high total to five, and Trahey's brace was the first of her collegiate career.
While
Krista Aliscio never accrued a save on the night, the senior goalkeeper still picked up her career-high sixth shutout of the season.
Head Coach
Brooke DeRosa and her Adelphi squad have an eight-day break before traveling to Amherst next Wednesday (Oct. 11) for a 3 p.m. kickoff at Daemen University.
