West Haven, Conn. - A 4-3 loss befell the Adelphi University women's tennis team Sunday afternoon at University of New Haven in West Haven.
The loss is Adelphi's first of the season, sending the 'Cats to 4-1 overall and 3-1 in NE10 play.
Even after losing the doubles point,
Astrid Bergh rallied to level the match at 1-1 with a 6-2, 6-3 result at No. 4 singles.
Katarina Liedbeck and
Carolina Chaves also won in straight sets at No. 2 and No. 6, respectively, to put the pressure on New Haven (4-1, 4-1 NE10).
The Panthers were unable to shut the door though.
Caterina Federici fell in three sets at No. 5 singles, and
Sanne Selmer Gilje lost a tough 5-7, 6-7 (3-7) decision in the No. 1 slot.
