Albany, N.Y. - On Saturday, the Adelphi University women's basketball team suffered an 81-71 setback against The College of Saint Rose in NE10 action at Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium.
Graduate guard
Ty'zhea Hawkins nearly eclipsed 30 points for a third time this year, scoring 28 points on 11-of-19 shooting. She also finished three dimes shy of a double-double with seven assists.
Sophomore guard
Rolanda Robinson made four threes and collected 16 points off the bench, to go along with five rebounds.
Madison Graham added three trifectas for a nine-point afternoon.
A 23-14 first quarter by the hosts -- fueled by a 10-for-18 shooting performance -- set the tone for the Golden Knights (6-6, 4-4.NE10) to snap their four-game losing streak.
In the second quarter,
Christina Sanchez hit a three on the visitors' opening possession, helping Adelphi (6-7, 3-5 NE10) to pull within 23-19 a minute into the period.
While the game was never exactly out of reach for the Panthers, Adelphi never closed the gap any further the rest of the way.
Saint Rose took full advantage of its opportunities in the paint, where the hosts held a commanding 50-20 point advantage.
The Panthers have a quick turnaround with a 5:30 p.m. tip-off on Tuesday (Jan. 10) against Franklin Pierce University at the Center for Recreation and Sport.
