Garden City, N.Y. - The second half of the season got underway for the Adelphi University women's basketball team on Wednesday with a 70-54 loss at the hands of Pace University at the Center for Recreation and Sport.
Pace (6-7, 3-4 NE10) was the more efficient shooting team in the first half, resulting in a 35-24 deficit for the Panthers (6-6, 3-4 NE10) at the intermission.
While the Setters made 51.9 percent (14-of-27) of their shots, Adelphi shot 33.3 percent (10-of-30) from the floor.
Pace hit on three consecutive buckets in the final 1:18 of the half -- including a buzzer-beating shot by Arianna Stockinger -- to take a double-digit lead into the break.
Even in the second half, Adelphi was unable to crack Pace's double-digit stronghold. The Setters were a near 50.0 percent shooting team (14-for-29) again over the final two quarters.
Despite committing only 11 turnovers, the Panthers were 20-of-59 (33.9 percent) from field-goal range in the contest.

Ty'zhea Hawkins and
Lauren Hammersley scored 10 points apiece.
