Women's Basketball Prevails at Saint Michael's, 65-56

Colchester, Vt. - The Adelphi University women's basketball team is now set to welcome its fellow students back to campus for the new semester, following Saturday's 65-56 win at Saint Michael's College in NE10 action at the Ross Sports Center.

It was another regular day at the office for Ty'zhea Hawkins and Jenna Jordan, but Madison Graham came off the bench for a career-high-tying 12-point effort.

Hawkins led all scorers with 19 points in 31 minutes of action, while Jordan produced her third double-double in as many games with 15 points and 12 rebounds.

The surge for the Panthers (8-9, 5-7 NE10) began at the onset of the second half, when a 21-10 third quarter rallied the visitors from a 30-24 deficit.

In the last 1:30 of the quarter, Jordan converted on a go-ahead lay-up and Graham hit a corner three that helped Adelphi to a 45-38 lead.

Graham drained another three to start the fourth and the Panthers were comfortably ahead by double digits with 9:28 to go.

Although Saint Michael's (1-15, 0-12 NE10) got within a bucket of tying the score, Adelphi made 7-of-8 free throws down the stretch to shut the door.

A Welcome Back Week celebration is scheduled to get underway from the CRS on Tuesday (Jan. 24), in conjunction with Adelphi's 5:30 p.m. game against University of New Haven.
