Garden City, N.Y. - Following a celebration for the members of the graduating class, the Adelphi University swim programs defeated the College of Saint Rose on Saturday, inside Woodruff Hall.
The men were responsible for a 64-31 victory while the women narrowly defeated the Golden Knights, 50-43.
On the women's side, Adelphi came away with six first place finishes, as the men dominated with eight. The men were led by
Timothy Yeung and
Brian Klotsche, who each tallied two victories as
Emily Munayirji led the female squad with two.
Munayirji clocked in at 5:40.60 in the 500 freestyle and 2:24.33 in the 200 IM, besting her opponents by nearly 10 seconds in the latter. Fellow first year
Elena Cunneen swam to a first place finish in the 100 breaststroke, finishing in a a time of 1:15.20 to earn five points for her team.
Klotsche topped his opposition in both the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke, with times of 54.67 and 57.29, respectively. Yeung tallied a 10:39.34 finish in the 1000 freestyle while also defeating those in the lanes in the 500 free with a time of 5:08.51.
The Panthers will now prepare to defend medals from last year's championship when they compete at NE10s starting on Thursday, Feb. 9.
