Nagy Nets Two as #9 Field Hockey Falls to #7 Millersville, 5-2

Millersville, Pa. - The Adelphi University field hockey team dropped their first game of the season on the road on Thursday, when they fell 5-2 to No. 7 Millersville.

The home team was the first to strike as the Marauders' Pili Zaballa scored on a penalty corner that landed on the cage in the opening five minutes of the game.

In the second period, Millersville (3-0) had a total of nine shots on goal including six penalty corners as Qhayiya Noqoduka tallied her first goal of the season, extending their lead to 2-0 at halftime.

The Panthers (1-1) notched their first goal of the game when sophomore Ali Nagy found a way past Kerstin Koons at the beginning of the fourth period, but Millersville had tacked on two more in the third, holding Adelphi scoreless for 45 minutes.

Nagy scored her second goal of the game towards the end of the fourth frame off a penalty corner that was set up by Bianca Bachisin - ultimately outsourcing the hosts in the final 15 minutes of work.

The Panthers had seven shots in total - with all but one coming in the fourth quarter - and goalkeeper Amanda Montiel made five saves all in the fourth quarter.

The Brown and Gold will play no. 5 Kutztown next Wednesday, Sept. 14. The next installment of the NFHCA national rankings will be released on Tuesday, Sept. 13.
