Garden City, N.Y. - A one-sided affair for ninety minutes, the Adelphi University men's soccer team finished its match with Bentley University in a 1-1 draw from Motamed Field Wednesday night in Garden City.
The Panthers (5-1-3, 2-1-1 NE10) controlled 71 percent of possession and outshot the Falcons 20-7, but the contest finished in an even tie.
The game turned after Bentley (2-4-3, 1-2-1 NE10) was awarded a penalty in the 65th minute in a scoreless game.
With an outstanding effort,
Daniel De La Heras went to his right for a diving save that kept Bentley off the board.
Adelphi then picked up its goalkeeper, as
Patrick Wilson tucked a header into the left corner netting in the 72nd minute for the tiebreaking goal.
With the clock ticking under ten minutes, the Falcons found the equalizer with a cross that found the touch of Lukas Drahos.at the far post.
Matteo Lazzarini nearly won it for Adelphi in the home stretch. Knocking on the doorstep with 6:09 left, Lazzarini pushed a shot just wide of the goal mouth.
