McKeough, Biggin Posts Multiple Goals as Field Hockey Defeats Southern Connecticut State, 9-0

Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University field hockey team cruised past Southern Connecticut State University in their 2022 Northeast-10 Conference opener by a score of 9-0 on Tuesday night.

Seven different Panthers (2-4, 1-0 NE10) tallied a goal, including two by red-shirt freshman forward Emiline Biggin and senior forward Giana McKeough

The Brown and Gold came out in a hurry in the first period, notching a goal at the 3:39 mark that was off a penalty corner and put in by graduate student Kaylee Deleva and assisted by sophomore Amanda Lee. The team pulled away after it took the initial lead.

In the early parts of the second quarter, the Panthers knocked in four goals - two from Biggin -- which were her first two of the season, leading Adelphi goal-scorer Ali Nagy, and a near-post shot by McKeough.

Adelphi got a goal in the first few minutes of the third quarter from senior Dailyn Annis, who scored her first goal as a Panther. Three more goals came later in the fourth quarter from sophomore Jillian Riche, freshman Mia Dowd, and McKeough for her second of the game.

The Owls (2-4, 1-1 NE10) had one shot on goal that came midway into the second period.

The Panthers will travel to play No. 6 Saint Anselm College this upcoming Saturday (Oct. 1) in an NE10 battle at 11 a.m.
