Volleyball Dropped in Straight Sets by Colorado Christian University

Lacey, WA - The Adelphi University volleyball program returned to action on Friday, on day two of the Saint Martin's University Labor Day Tournament.

Noelle Alberda finished the second match of the tournament with double-digit kills, leading all players in the Brown and Gold. Defensively, Jamie Yonker collected 18 digs as Jaydin Nowak also contributed 10.

Trailing by three for majority of the set, Adelphi was unable to string together any offense to overcome the deficit, ultimately falling 25-18 in the opener. Colorado Christian used a .378 team hitting percentage with just two errors overall compared to the Panthers' five to capture the first set win.

An identical score in the second put the Cougars up 2-0 in the match as they managed to hold Adelphi to a sub-.100 hitting percentage and single digit kills while they racked up 14 from their attack. Trailing by one at 15-16, the Panthers attempted ot stave off the home team on the scoreboard, but the Cougars scored six of the ensuing eight en route to another win.

Colorado Christian opened the third set on a 14-5 tear, which Adelphi managed to cut into with the help of three straight kills from Samantha Meehan. With match point looming, the Cats managed to keep it close with two consecutive errors from the Cougars, but CCU's leading hitter Libby Goodman scored two fo the final three points to seal the deal.

Adelphi will remain at Marcus Pavilion for a prime time matchup with the hosting Saints - game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
