Women's Tennis Handles Another Opponent; Defeats Bentley, 7-0

Garden City, N.Y. - For the third time in as many contests, the Adelphi University women's tennis team shut out an opponent.

On Sunday, the Panthers won 7-0 over Bentley University in NE10 action at the Adelphi Tennis Courts, and improved to 3-1 overall in the process.

A clean sweep of doubles got the conference showdown started. Barbie Quagliardi and Caterina Federici sealed up the team doubles point for the Panthers (2-0 NE10) with a 6-2 victory at the top flight.

Quagliardi also turned away her singles opposition rather quickly in a 6-1, 6-1 decision at No. 1 singles. Amanda Franstedt prevailed without losing a game (6-0, 6-0) at the No. 4 flight.

Federici and Katarina Liedbeck only needed the minimum number of sets, winning 6-4, 6-2 and 6-1, 6-4, at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively.

Jenelle Downer (6-2, 6-0) and Carolina Chaves (6-1, 6-1) put the finishing touches on the match at No. 5 and No. 6 singles with straight-set victories.

With ITA's fast approaching, the Panthers will first face off with American International College on Tuesday (Sept. 20) in an NE10 clash at 4 p.m. in Springfield, Mass.
