Birmingham, Al. - Former Adelphi standout
Gordon Purdie Jr. '21 will represent Team Australia as one of 48 men's players making the trip to the 2022 World Games starting July 8.Â
The Sixes discipline will make its competitive debut along with men's lacrosse as a whole at the 2022 World Games in Birmingham, Alabama at PNC Field.
Returning to the United States as the host nation for the first time since the first World Games in Santa Clara, Calif. in 1981, the World Games featuring 34 sports spanning 10 days were originally slated for 2021 but were postponed due to the pandemic. The women made their debut at the event back in 2017, now the men and the Sixes discipline will make 2022 one of a kind. The lacrosse portion of the event will start on Friday, July 8 with the gold medal matches taking place on Tuesday, July 12.Â
Purdie Jr. spent six seasons with the Panthers, where he totaled 185 points which ranks him seventh all-time in the Division II era. He was the NE10 and ECAC Rookie of the Year in 2016 after an outstanding freshman campaign in which he accounted for 53 points, ranking second that season in goals with 35.Â
