Denver, Colo. - The Adelphi University softball team fell in the first game of the Division II Softball Championship Thursday night, 8-2.
North Georgia put up four runs in the first inning to take an early lead over Adelphi. The Nighthawks scored the first run off an infield error and three more crossed when Jaycie Michael rocked a three-run homer.
Amanda Owens scored for the Panthers in the second inning after an infield error sent her across the dish to make it a 4-1 ball game. Owens scored once more in the fourth after
Ashley Lombardi reached on a fielder's choice to give the Panthers two runs.
The Nighthawks added one run in the third and again in the fifth inning before scoring two in the sixth to make it an 8-2 game.
Adelphi will now play the winner of No. 3 Auburn Montgomery and No. 6 Seton Hill at 6:30 p.m. (MST) / 8:30 p.m. (EST) tomorrow, May 27.
