Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

No.3 Womens Lacrosse Routs St.Michaels in 17-1 Contest

Garden City, NY- The no.3 ranked Adelphi women's lacrosse team defeated unranked St. Michael's College on Saturday, winning its 10th game in a row, 17-1.

 

Panther scoring was led by Christina McCabe, who found the back of the net three times. Six other Adelphi players finished with two goals apiece while two others finished with one each. 

 

The Gold and Brown (10-0, 7-0) held a commanding lead for all 60 minutes.The host defense allowed no shots on goals in the first period and only allowed one goal total in the half. Pat McCabe's squad headed into intermission leading the visiting team 9-1. 

 

Adelphi continued their impressive showing in the third period, getting past the visitors goalkeeper five more times to stretch their lead to 13. Goals by Kerrin Heuser, Kristina Kallansrude, and Gianna Bifulco helped keep the Purple Knights at bay. Defensively, the home team allowed no shots on goal for the third and forced two turnovers. The Panthers led 14-1 going into the final quarter. 

 

The hosts' scoring continued into the fourth quarter, adding three more goals to cap off their overpowering display. Adelphi finished the game with 14 caused turnovers and only allowing two shots on goal all game. The final score was 17-1 Adelphi, handing St. Michael's their ninth loss of the season. 

 

The Panthers look to earn their 11th consecutive victory this Wednesday, Apr. 13 when they head up to The College of Saint Rose.
