Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

No. 4 Adelphi Mens Lax Remain Undefeated Against St. Michaels

Garden City, NY- The no. 4 ranked Adelphi's men's lacrosse team overcame St. Michael's College, on Saturday, winning its ninth game in a row with a final score of 16-8.

Prior to opening faceoff, the DezyStrong Foundation and men's lacrosse alum Kris Amplo presented Casey Dugan and Billy Smithwick with the inaugural Strong Mind - Strong Body award.

Panther scoring was led by Jason Rebaudo and Joseph Duchnowski who each recorded a hat trick. Kyle Steinbach and Michael Paccione were responsible for two goals each.

The home team (9-0, 7-0) struck first, with a goal by Steinbach less than a minute into the game. The Brown and Gold continued their scoring streak with five more unanswered goals until the Purple Knights got past Adelphi's goalkeeper, Dylan Renner, to cut the lead to five. The Panthers defense limited the visitors to only three shots on goal in the opening frame.

At the start of the second quarter, Duchnowski scored his 14th goal of the season to continue the offensive run by the hosts. St. Michael's bounced back after a slow first quarter with three tallies, but it was not enough as the Panthers found the back of the net five times in the second quarter. Adelphi headed into the intermission with a 11-4 advantage.

The third quarter was an equal match up for each team as they both scored three times throughout. Adelphi's Ryan Butler had a strong defensive frame with two caused turnovers. Brain Hoerter and Joseph Diggle each tallied a point to give the home team a 14-7 lead heading into the final 15 minutes of action.

Adelphi maintained control of the game adding two more goals courtesy of Steinbach and James Bifulco, who netted his first goal of the season. Renner saved five shots and only allowed one shot to go in for the quarter.

Gordon Purdie's squad will look to win their 10th straight at Molloy College on Apr. 12.
