Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

No. 2 Women's Lacrosse Avenges Last Result Against Bentley with 13-6 Decision

Waltham, Mass. - In a rematch of the 2021 Northeast-10 Conference title game, the no.2 Adelphi women's lacrosse team continued its win streak with a 13-6 decision against Bentley University on Wednesday evening, under the lights at the Bentley Football Field.

Leading scorer Christina McCabe tallied four goals and was helped by six other teammates, three of which scored two goals apiece.

Adelphi (13-0, 10-0) found themselves playing catch up with Bentley's scoring ability after the first quarter. Cara McCarthy opened scoring for Falcons, but McCabe answered for the visitors, equaling the score at one-all after five minutes of play. The Panthers were outscored 2-1 for the remainder of the frame and went into the second trailing by one.

The Brown and Gold got comfortable on the Bentley turf as they opened the scoring floodgates in the second quarter. Five different Panthers scored a goal with Emily Beier finding the back of the cage twice to give Adelphi a 6-1 advantage in the frame. Goalkeeper Emma Lemanski finished with two saves – only forfeiting one shot to the Falcons.

Lemanski played a perfect quarter between the pipes throughout the third quarter, as the defense kept the pressure on the Falcons while also netting two scores on the other end. McCabe and Jamie Mecca got past Maya Rose for their second goal each in the game. The visiting team headed into the final 15 minutes leading 10-4.

The Panthers continued their offensive streak of nine unanswered with goals from Kerrin Heuser, McCabe and Beier to outscore the Falcons 3-2 in the fourth quarter. Lemanski finished the game with eight saves to keep the Bentley offense at bay.

Pat McCabe's squad stays in Massachusetts to take on Stonehill College this Saturday, Apr. 23 to look for their 14th win of the season. The Skyhawks were ranked at no. 14 in the latest IWLCA poll and appear right behind Adelphi in the first installment of the Division II regional rankings, which were released earlier Wednesday. The Panthers are one of three undefeated teams remaining across all four regions.
