Worcester, Mass. - The no. 3 Adelphi University men's lacrosse team won its seventh straight on Saturday afternoon, when 10 different goal scorers lifted them over Assumption 14-5 at Brian Kelly Stadium.
Joseph Duchnowski recorded his second game with a hat trick or more, adding a team-leading three as
Jason Rebaudo and
Michael Paccione each chipped in a pair. Rebaudo actually led the team in points, adding four helpers to his stat line, for six points.
Adelphi (7-0, 5-0 NE10) opened the contest with a 6-1 first quarter, kicked off by a score from
Matt Greaves at the 11:57 mark.
James Hall connected with Duchnowski to open the second frame, just before Assumption added their second of the contest. The Panthers managed to hold the Greyhounds scoreless from 7:39 in the second to 12:07 in the fourth as the visitors put up another six-spot in the third quarter.
Kyle Steinbach led the charge in that stretch, starting an offensive onslaught that culminated in a 14-2 edge in shots alone for Adelphi through the third.
Flipping the script, Assumption outshot the visiting team 18-5 in the final 15 minutes of work, resulting in three goals, which was not enough to overcome the 12-goal deficit.
For the Panthers,
Dylan Renner earned the win with three saves through 45 minutes of work.
Kyle Cash took over in the final quarter for his first appearance this season, picking up seven saves in that time.
Gordon Purdie and the men's lacrosse team are back on the road next Wednesday, Apr. 6 when they visit Pace University. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
