Garden City, N.Y. - On Tuesday, the Adelphi University baseball team put up its most crooked number to-date this season with a 19-6 victory over College of Staten Island in non-conference action at William J. Bonomo Memorial Field.
After
Gavin Graff worked a clean first with two strikeouts in his first collegiate start, the Adelphi offense went to work.
Junior designated hitter
Michael Draskin picked up from where he left off over the weekend, opening the scoring for the Panthers (20-9-1) with an RBI double.
Ultimately, Adelphi batted around in its first turn at the plate.
Johnny Catuosco and
Jack Wishner both had RBI hits, while
Alex Rende drove in an RBI with a fielder's choice.
Graff spun a one-hitter for 5.2 innings and only gave up an unearned run in his full six innings of work. He also struck out three in the process.
The Brown and Gold led 9-0 after three and 15-0 through five.
Alec Maag collected his first RBI as a Panther with a third-inning RBI double, and
Ryan Picarello sent his first collegiate homer out to left-center in the fifth.
Joe Pasqua,
Nick Lopez and
Ergin Perovic all picked up RBI base hits.
Kendall Kendrick made his first appearance on the hill and worked a perfect ninth.
Maag finished with a perfect 4-for-4 day in his first start behind the dish.
C.J. Picone scored three runs and added a 2-for-2 effort at the plate as a substitution.
Head Coach
Bill Ianniciello and the Panthers get right back to it tomorrow (Apr. 20), with a 3:30 p.m. start at NE10 rival Southern Connecticut State University.
