Garden City, N.Y. - Sixteen different players for no. 4 Adelphi men's lacrosse earned at least one point on Saturday, in a 17-7 defeat of Franklin Pierce to remain unbeaten this season.
The Panthers (11-0, 8-0 NE10) are one of two remaining undefeated teams in Division II, as Tampa controls the South Region right now with a 14-0 mark overall.
Joseph Duchnowski got things going for the home team, scoring three minutes in to spark a 7-0 run for Adelphi, with the help of eight consecutive faceoff wins for
Edward Perlstein. For the afternoon, the midfielder posted a perfect 17-for-17 clip at the X, with a team-leading 12 ground balls.
Franklin Pierce finally got on the board as the first goal of the second quarter, and then cut the deficit to six with another tally four minutes later.
Brian Harinski,
Eamon Hall and Darin Simons, Jr. all contributed goals before halftime, contributing to a nine goal advantage at the break.
The Ravens scored twice more in the third, but were overwhelmed by four more goals from Adelphi.
Kyle Cash took over between the pipes, logging two saves, and ending with four over 19 minutes in net.
The visiting team won two of the six faceoffs in the final frame and actually outscored the home team 3-2 but it was not enough to overcome the Brown and Gold.
Men's lacrosse is back in action on Tuesday, Apr. 19 when they host Mercy College in non-conference action. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
