Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

#3 Men's Lacrosse Battles Close Contest with Saint Rose, Wins 7-4

Garden City, N.Y. - On a colder than average evening for the end of March, the no. 3 Adelphi University men's lacrosse team not only battled the frigid temps but also the College of Saint Rose, coming up with a 7-4 victory on Tuesday.

Only four players scored in the win for Adelphi (6-0, 4-0 NE10) as Jason Rebaudo, James Hall, and Joseph Duchnowski each recorded a couple of tallies apiece.

A sloppy opening frame nearly saw only one goal from either side, until Duchnowski found Rebaudo to make it 2-1 in favor of the Panthers. Golden Knights' goalkeeper Ryan Fleming recorded three saves to start the second quarter before Angelo Caiazzo extended the lead to two. The home team managed to keep their opponents scoreless through the second while tacking on another goal to hold a three-goal advantage at halftime.

Saint Rose scored first in the third quarter, but Adelphi added two more before the frame was through to extend its lead to four.

Neither team scored for nearly 10 minutes in the fourth, until Duchnowski netted his 10th tally of the season to see the Golden Knights trailing by five. The visiting team used a rebound off a shot to score its third, and added its fourth goal with just under a minute to play in regulation. Despite drawing up a play, Dylan Renner put his 13th save of the evening to keep Saint Rose at Bay.

Fleming was well on his way to another historic night against the Panthers, as he finished with 18 saves. Last April, Fleming set a program single-game record against Adelphi in saves with 24. Saint Rose edged the Panthers 11-9 in caused turnovers, holding the home team to their lowest scoring output of the season.

Adelphi men's lacrosse returns to action this weekend when they head to Assumption College on Saturday, Apr. 2.
