Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

#3 Women's Lacrosse Takes Down #19 Assumption, 10-7

The Panthers held the Greyhounds scoreless in the third which aided in the win.

Worcester, MA - Powered by Emily Beier's five goals, the No. 3 women's lacrosse team won their sixth straight game by way of a 10-7 victory over the #19 Greyhounds of Assumption College earlier this afternoon.

Complimenting Beirer's five-goal performance were teammates Izzy Grant and Kerri Heuser; the two accounted for the other five goals with Grant tallying three. The Panthers won the ground ball battle, edging Assumption by a slim 15-13 margin while the defense caused nine turnovers. In goal, Emma Lemanski recorded the win, played the entire 60 minutes, and made six stops.

Despite a Jenna Joseph goal early in the first to give Assumption (3-4, 1-2 NE10) an early 1-0 advantage, nearly five minutes later, Grant, on a feed from Kristina Schweitzer,  brought score even at 1-1. Each team traded goals one more time, but Heuser found the back of the cage with one second remaining in the opening quarter to give Adelphi (6-0, 3-0 NE10) the 3-2 edge.

Assumption book-ended the second period with goals from Grace Chicko and Lauren Jakobs while Grant notched her final two goals on back-to-back efforts. Heading into the half, the Brown and Gold held a narrow 5-4 lead.

Beier highlighted the third with the only scores of the quarter, both unassisted, to give her team a 7-4 cushion heading into the final 15 minutes. She then netted her final two goals to open the fourth, making it a 9-4 affair. The five-goal lead proved to be enough to last through the end of the game. Despite Assumption notching two goals a the end, it was too little too late with the scoreboard reading 10-7 as the game concluded.

The Panthers return home for their next game on Wednesday, March 30 when they host the #15 Setters of Pace University. The NE-10 matchup is slated for a 5pm start on Motamed Field.
