Men's Tennis Loses at Queens, 5-2

Flushing, N.Y. - On Tuesday, the Adelphi University men's tennis team wrapped up the non-conference portion of its 2021-22 schedule with a 5-2 loss to reigning four-time ECC Tournament champion Queens College in Flushing.

Although the match had already been decided at that point, the Panthers (2-5) prevailed at the No. 1 and No. 2 singles flights.

Marko Jovanovic made it five consecutive top-singles victories with another come-from-behind effort. He took down Queens' Kareem Rashad in three sets, 4-6, 6-1, 6-3. Jovanovic has played the full three sets in three of his last four singles matches.

Gabriel Balestero improved to 3-4 in dual-meet singles competition, after his hard-fought 5-7, 6-4, 10-8 win over Mariano Bibiloni at the No. 2 flight.

Pietro Sole played a 13-11 tiebreaker against Moritz Borges in fifth singles, while Luke Attride-Stirling lost two tightly-contested sets (4-6, 5-7) to Philipp Uhde at the No. 6 spot.

Head Coach Rebecca Fakas and her Adelphi squad will now prepare for the start of NE10 play, which begins Saturday (Mar. 19) against Saint Michael's College at 1 p.m. at Point Set Racquet Club in Oceanside.
