Garden City, N.Y. - On Tuesday night, the Adelphi University women's basketball team dropped a tough 46-45 battle to Le Moyne College in Northeast-10 Conference action at the Center for Recreation and Sport.
Five of Adelphi's last nine games have now been decided by three points or less, including two one-point contests.
The Panthers (10-11, 8-8 NE10) built up two three-possession leads, but it didn't prove to be enough.
Adelphi led 14-6 in the first quarter and 27-20 in the third.
Ty'zhea Hawkins, who poured in a game-high 17 points, sank key buckets that propelled the hosts to those leads.
The Brown and Gold led 45-44 in the final seconds, but a drive to the basket by Le Moyne's Erin Fouracre with 4.7 seconds left proved to be the difference in the contest.
Emily Miccile, who was presented with a commemorative 1,000-point ball in a pre-game ceremony, finished with 11 points and eight rebounds.
Sydney Rosenoff made two threes and scored 10 points.
