Women's Basketball Earns 62-56 Victory at Saint Rose

Albany, N.Y. - Despite trailing heading into the fourth quarter, the Adelphi University women's basketball team swept the season series from the College of Saint Rose with a 62-56 come-from-behind win at Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium on Saturday in Albany.

The victory snapped a three-game skid for the Panthers, who improved to 11-11 overall and 9-8 in NE10 play.

As the postseason picture comes closer into focus, Adelphi now only has two regular-season contests remaining.

A Jenissa Encarnacion lay-up at the start of the fourth quarter gave Saint Rose (3-15, 3-12 NE10) its largest lead of the game at 50-44.

Adelphi then outscored Saint Rose 18-6 over the final 9:17 of the contest, led by a 14-point effort from Emily Miccile in the quarter.

While the Panthers shot 40.0 percent from the field in the fourth, the Golden Knights were also 0-for-8 from the foul line.

Miccile dropped a career-high 30 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in the win. She went 10-for-18 from the floor and 10-for-12 from the stripe, to go along with three blocks and three steals.

Ty'zhea Hawkins finished in double figures, as well. She drained a three and scored 11 points in 27 minutes of action.

Head Coach Sade Jackson and her Adelphi squad are off for a week, before playing host to University of New Haven on Senior Day next Saturday (Feb. 19) at the Center for Recreation and Sport at 1:30 p.m.
