Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Hoops Wins Six Straight With 67-56 Victory Over Le Moyne

Garden City, N.Y. - Aristotelis Sotiriou scored a new career-high in Adelphi University men's basketball's win over Le Moyne College on Tuesday, helping defeat the Dolphins 67-56 inside the Center for Recreation and Sports.

In an all-time record that saw the Panthers (16-6, 10-4 NE10) lose eight straight to Le Moyne from 2016 to 2019, Adelphi has now won three consecutive the series and six straight this season, handing the 'Phins their fifth loss in a row.

The home team led for all but 18 seconds of the contest, jumping out to a 10-point lead after seven minutes of action, courtesy of a Joshua Koulamallah lay-in. Six unanswered points for Le Moyne brought them within two of the hosts, but Ronnie Silva was fouled on a three-point attempt that sent him to the line where he made all three to keep the Dolphins at bay.

Adelphi maintained their double-digit advantage throughout the second half, leading by at most 20 when Sotiriou landed back-to-back free throws at 5:51. Le Moyne struggled to get anything going offensively, especially from three-point land, unable to come from behind down the stretch.

Silva, who was named Northeast-10 and All-Met Basketball Writers Player of the week for his 23.5 points per game last week, continued his scoring ways, dropping a team-high 19 after a quiet first half. As a team, the Panthers were stale from three-point range, only knocking down two, despite averaging over 10 per contest.

Adonis Williams was nearly perfect from the floor accounting for 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field.

Dave Duke and the team will look to win their seventh straight this weekend when they travel to the College of Saint Rose for a matchup on Saturday, Feb. 12.
