#11 Women's Lacrosse Opens Season in Dominating Fashion at Georgian Court, 23-3

Lakewood, NJ - Allowing the home team to score just once in the first and twice in the last quarter, the no. 11 Adelphi University women's lacrosse team cruised to a 23-3 victory over Georgian Court in its season opener on Wednesday.

The Panthers (1-0) used a 14-1 advantage in the first half alone and never looked back, dominating the shot column, 34-10, with a 28-8 mark on frame in the first game of the 2022 campaign.

Nine different players scored for the visiting team, including four with four or more tallies. Christina McCabe led the charge with seven points on five goals and two assists as Izzy Grant and Danielle Marino scored for the first time in a Panther uniform. Megan Keener produced a career-game which saw four goals from the graduate student, as Kerrin Heuser also matched her career-best outing with four goals. Emily Beier took on the role of playmaker with a team-leading five assists to finish with six points.

The visitors on the scoreboard found the back of the cage five times before the Lions got on the board, scoring their lone goal of the half with 9:12 left in the opening quarter. Over nearly the next three quarters it was all Adelphi as they went on to rack up a 22-1 edge over Georgian Court, until they broke the silence with 2:25 left in regulation.

Reigning CACC Player of the Week Shaine Sauter scored in a man-up possesion against Madison Marchetta, who took over goalkeeping duties for the final 15 minutes of action. She was responsible for two saves as starting keeper Emma Lemanski collected three saves in 45:00 of action to earn the goalkeeping victory for Adelphi.
