Women's Basketball Takes It on Senior Day, 52-49

Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University women's basketball celebrated the graduating class of 2022 with a 52-49 conference win over the University of New Haven on Saturday afternoon.

Sydney Rosenoff pickpocketed UNH's Kameryn King late in the fourth, leading to a Sarah Deyo lay-up that put Adelphi (12-11, 10-8 NE10) up 51-47 with just under two minutes left in regulation.

UNH's Aurora Deshaies, who finished with a line of 22 points and 21 rebounds, sank a put-back lay-up that closed the gap to 51-49 with 38 seconds to play.

While Ty'zhea Hawkins knocked down a free throw in crunch time, New Haven (9-15, 4-14 NE10) had the game's final possession down three. As the ball was inbounded though, the clock ran out on the Chargers.

Adelphi had nine players contribute offensively, led by Deyo's 13 points. Rosenoff and Emma Cuccurullo pitched in with eight and seven apiece. Kayla Hall chipped in with six off a pair of treys.

The Panthers ran out a starting lineup of all seniors, which included the first starts for Hall and Stavriana Dimitrakopoulou in an Adelphi uniform.

Adelphi will travel to Southern Connecticut on Tuesday (Feb. 22) for its final regular-season game at 5:30 p.m. in New Haven, Conn.
