Garden City, N.Y. - On Tuesday, the Adelphi University women's basketball team was unable to contain the up-tempo offense of Southern Connecticut State University in an 80-66 loss at the Center for Recreation and Sport.
The loss ends a five-game winning streak against the Owls for Adelphi, which fell to 3-4 overall and 2-3 in NE10 play.
In the first half alone, Southern Connecticut shot 51.5 percent (17-of-33) from the field and collected 11 fast-break points.
While the Panthers trailed 48-26 at the half and 65-41 after the third quarter, Adelphi still managed to cut it to single digits in the fourth quarter.
Behind a game- and career-best 27 points from
Jenna Jordan, the Brown and Gold closed the gap to 71-62 with 3:18 remaining. A 19-3 fourth-quarter run reduced the difference from what was a 68-43 SCSU lead.
Jordan's previous career-high came in a Manhattan uniform against Siena College on Feb. 10, 2022, when she dropped 19 points.
Jordan also grabbed nine rebounds in the losing effort, finishing one shy of a double-double.
Sydney Rosenoff contributed a line of eight points, five rebounds and three assists.
Rolanda Robinson had seven points off the bench.
The Panthers will go on the road to play in an NE10 showdown against No. 23 Bentley University at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday (Dec. 10) in Waltham, Mass.
