Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Hoops Upended by Southern Connecticut in 82-56 Loss

Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's basketball team suffered its third consecutive loss on Tuesday evening to the hands of Southern Connecticut State, 82-56, remaining winless in Northeast-10 Conference action.Ā

The Panthers (3-6, 0-5 NE10) were struck with 19 turnovers throughout the conference matchup, of which the Owls (4-4, 2-2) capitalized, scoring 28. In a game where the home team never led, the visitors went on to shoot just under 50 percent for the contest, which included a 6-for-8 performance from three-point land in the opening half alone.Ā

Adelphi was in an early hole, finding themselves trailing by 10 afterĀ seven minutes of action. The visiting team managed to run up that score, using a 17-6 stretch to lead by 21 with 2:23 left in the half. Dayshaun Walton and Justin Forest were the only Panthers to register points in the ensuing time, as the hosts were left with a 22-point deficit heading into the locker room.Ā

At the break, Aristotelis, who finished with a team-leading 17 points, was the only player to reach double-figures, scoring 10 on 3-4 shooting from the field with four makes from the free throw line.Ā

Matthew Price got things going from beyond the arc in the second half, but 12 unanswered from Southern Connecticut, plus a five-plus minute scoring drought for the Panthers saw the home team down 30.Ā

From there, the Owls continued to press on offense to maintain the advantage down the stretch and close out their fourth win of the 2022-23 season.Ā

Adelphi dips to 3-6 overall with another NE10 meeting on deck when they travel to take on Bentley University on Saturday, Dec. 10.Ā
