Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

All Starters Reach Double-Figures In Men's Hoops Loss to Saint Anselm

Manchester, NH - Despite all five starters for Adelphi men's basketball reaching double-digit points, the road team was struck with an.84-73 loss at the hands of Saint Anselm College on Saturday afternoon, to remain winless in conference action this season.

Leading the way was New Hampshire native Ronnie Silva, who accounted for 16 in the loss, as the team shot just below 50 percent from the field in the first half. From beyond the arc, a normally hot-handed Adelphi squad only knocked down three on 13 attempts, comparatively to the home team who drained eight on 11 shots.

The Panthers (3-5, 0-4 NE10) got out to a slow start, trailing by 15 just seven minutes in as the Hawks landed four from three-point range to be in the drivers' seat.  Adelphi was able to cut the deficit to single digits on an Elijah Lewis jumper at 9:56, but once more the home team worked out to a 12-point advantage on another three triples.

Aristotelis Sotiriou scored four en route to trailing by as many, but a pair of shots in the paint allowed Saint Anselm to stretch their lead to eight. At the buzzer, Lewis managed to land a floater which saw the visitors down six heading into halftime, as he led all Adelphi players with nine points in the opener.

Back-to-back threes from Matthew Price's at 18:24 in the second put Adelphi within three of the home team, but the Hawks managed to keep their opponent at bay. The Brown and Gold never led for the remainder of the contest, as the hosts worked out to their largest advantage of 14 at 6:27. Dayshaun Walton and Lewis combined for 11 points off the bench as the Panthers were 50 percent from both the field and three point land in the second frame.

Adelphi will welcome Southern Connecticut State into the Center for Recreation and Sports on Tuesday, Dec. 6 for a 7:30 p.m. tip.

Both the men's and women's basketball team (along with spirit groups cheerleading and dance) will join together to help end the stigma of student-athlete mental health, with the promotion of Morgan's Message, an organization aimed at equalizing the treatment of physical and mental health.
