Garden City, N.Y. - A devastating ending to the regular season for the Adelphi University field hockey team as they lost 5-2 against Pace on Wednesday evening.
After starting the game off with a penalty corner setup goal from graduate student
Bianca Bachisin with an assist from senior
Giana McKeough, the Cats' seemed to get in the groove on the offensive side quickly.Â
It didn't take long for the Setters to tie up the game - at the 22:12 mark in the second period, Hannah Wylie would score her first goal of the season off a rebound shot. The first half ended with both teams putting up eight shots each.Â
However, in the start of the third quarter, Pace (10-7, 7-5 NE10) would end up scoring off a breakaway and the goal would come from their leading goal scorer, Krista Dietz, who was assisted by Frankie Fava to put the Setters up. They would end up scoring two more goals in the quarter, one off a penalty stroke that was slashed in by Julia Eshleman and another goal from Tavia Flecksteiner.
Pace scored once more in the fourth period off a penalty corner from Kate Demars and was assisted by Jessica Wolfe. The Panthers (10-8, 9-4 NE10) converted their second goal of the game from sophomore
Amanda Lee which was assisted by Bachisin.
