Hammersley's 27 Points Lift Women's Basketball to Road Win at Saint Anselm, 70-65

Manchester, N.H. - The first win in 2022-23 for the Adelphi University women's basketball team came Saturday on the strength of a 27-point performance by Lauren Hammersley at Saint Anselm College at Stoutenburgh Gymnasium.

In thirty minutes off the bench, Hammersley buried seven pointers and shot 9-of-19 from the field to lead Adelphi (1-2, 1-1 NE10) to a 70-65 victory.

In a contest where the Panthers made thirteen threes, Rolanda Robinson made three trifectas and nearly tied her career-high with 15 points. Ty'zhea Hawkins finished in double figures for a third-straight game with 12 points.

Adelphi trailed 50-41 midway through the third quarter, until an 8-0 run had the Panthers right back in the game.

A Hammersley three-pointer sparked the comeback and a Robinson triple got Adelphi within 50-49.

The Brown and Gold then used a 21-13 fourth-quarter edge to pull ahead. Along the way, Adelphi scored the first ten points of the quarter for a 59-52 advantage with 6:13 to go.

Saint Anselm (1-3, 0-2 NE10) closed the gap to 62-59 in the last two minutes, but Adelphi went 7-of-10 from the line in crunch time to seal the win.

The Panthers got 40 of their points from the bench, where Hammersley and Madison Graham combined for 35 of them.

Head Coach Sade Jackson and her Adelphi squad now come home to host Le Moyne College in an NE10 showdown on Tuesday (Nov. 22) at the Center for Recreation and Sport at 5:30 p.m.
