Garden City, N.Y. - A 22-10 fourth quarter was the difference Friday night in the Adelphi University women's basketball team's season-opening 59-49 loss to Post University in non-conference action at the Center for Recreation and Sport.

Jenna Jordan bucket in the paint tied the game at 43-all with 7:34 left, before Post (1-0) rattled off an 11-0 fourth-quarter response that carried the Eagles to victory.
In the four-minute span that Post pulled away, the Panthers (0-1) gave up six offensive rebounds and shot 0-for-5 from the field.Â
Adelphi jumped out to a quick 9-1 advantage to open the game.
Lauren Hammersley's first basket as a Panther was a three to spark the run.
Ty'zhea Hawkins hit a pair of transition jays.
The Brown and Gold would trail 28-23 at the half, but a Hawkins three midway through the third quarter eventually had Adelphi up by a point at 33-32.
That three-pointer lifted Hawkins to a career milestone. After dropping 777 points in her tenure at Massasoit Community College, Hawkins eclipsed 1,000 career points in her first game of the 2022-23 season.
Hawkins finished 8-of-14 shooting and poured in a team-high 19 points. Jordan had a quiet double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Hammersley added eight points in her Adelphi debut.
Sydney Rosenoff contributed six assists and six steals.
