Bachisin Tallies a Hat-Trick as Field Hockey Triumphs Past SNHU, 9-1

Garden City, N.Y - The Adelphi University field hockey team cruised past Southern New Hampshire in their conference matchup by a final score of 9-1 on Thursday evening.

The game started off with the Brown and Gold going on the attack with four shots in the first eight minutes but none of the them connecting into the back of the cage. At the 10:27 mark, Carly Lovejoy scored giving Southern New Hampshire (2-6, 1-2 NE10) the lead in the early part of the game.

In the second period, the Panthers were back on the attack, this time, putting one into the back of the cage and thanks to a near post goal from graduate student Kaylee Deleva that was assisted by senior Giana McKeough. It didn't take long for Adelphi to get the lead - six minutes later, graduate student Bianca Bachisin notched her first goal of the game that was assisted off an inside the circle pass from freshman Lotte de Jong. The Panthers wolud score one more before the half - a quick shot by Amanda Lee that got passed goalkeeper Emma Peeters to extend the lead to two goals and give the sophomore from Stony Brook, N.Y. her first goal of the season.

At the start of the second half, sophomore Jillian Riche collected a goal off a rebound shot from Lee to give the Brown and Gold a 4-1 lead. Two more goals were scored during the quarter by McKeough and graduate student Michaela Zabicki who tallied her first Panthers' goal off a penalty kick.

Adelphi (4-4, 3-0 NE10) would secure three more goals in the fourth period from Lee in the early part and a second one from Bachisin off another penalty kick and a third one that was assisted by junior Faith Dillon to complete her first collegiate hat-trick.

The Panthers have now won three game in a row and have outscored their opponents 19-1 in that span.

The Brown and Gold will take their hot streak and travel to Assumption in a rematch of last year's Northeast-10 Championship next Tuesday (Oct. 11) at 3 p.m.
