Garden City, N.Y. - The two-month grind of the regular season has ended and the postseason is now just beginning.
The Adelphi University women's soccer team has earned the No. 3 seed in next week's NE10 Championship, after an impressive 8-2-2 finish to conference play.
A quarterfinal date with No. 6 Bentley University is on tap for this Sunday (Oct. 30) at noon at Motamed Field.
Earlier this month, the Panthers dispatched Bentley 2-0 at home, on the strength of a pair of first-half goals by
Alexa Mihale and
Madison Apicella.
Since 2006, Adelphi owns an astounding 15-1 record against Bentley. The 'Cats only blemish all-time versus Bentley came last year in a 2-0 defeat on the road.
Despite the long track record, the two teams have never faced off in the postseason. Bentley enters Sunday's contest as winners of four of its last six.
Not only are the Panthers in search of their first NE10 title since 2015, Adelphi is without an NE10 Tournament victory over the last five seasons.
The winner of Sunday's contest will meet either No. 2 seed Franklin Pierce University or No. 7 seed Assumption University in a semifinal match on Thursday (Nov. 3) at the higher seed.
