Staten Island, N.Y. - With one record breaking performance on the men's side, the Adelphi university swimming and diving program captured a dual win at the College of Staten Island on Friday, as the men took a 117-110 decision and the women swam away with a 125-96 result.

First year Connor Singer hit the lanes for the Panthers for the first time and came away with a new Adelphi record and personal best in the 100 breaststroke. He also set a new record at the College of Staten Island pool with his sub-one minute time of 58.56. The record was previously held by Jack Wheeler who set a time of 59.03 on Feb. 9, 2019 at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship.

Reigning NE10 Rookie of the Year Cooper Rivers returned to Adelphi for his sophomore season and impressed in the opener, taking first in the 200 yard IM race in a time of 1:58.22 and securing second in the 500 freestyle. Timothy Yeung was responsible for a top swim in the 1000 freestyle, touching the wall first in a time of 10:40.47, as Brian Klotsche also took home the gold in the 100 backstroke after posting a time of 55.47.

For the women, they outscored the Dolphins 125-96 and produced three personal bests in the meet.

Newcomer Emily Munayirji was a top swimmer in the lanes, grabbing one gold and one silver to score 483 points. She placed first in the 500 freestyle event, in a time of 5:32.89 while coming in second in the 1000 free. Delaney Noel also produced a one-two day with a top swim in the 1000 free ahead of Munayirji, and was second to the rookie in the 500 freestyle.

Isabella Bonagura produced her first gold of her career with a first place finish in the 100 freestyle (1:01.60) as did Anastasia Pagonis in the 200 freestyle (2:14.83). Returner Ashleigh Gault clocked in at 1:07.65 in the 100 backstroke to come in over four seconds faster than her teammate Shannon Pepe and over seven seconds quicker than the competitor from Staten Island.

The team will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 28 when they take on Pace University.
