Colchester, VT - Noelle Alberda ended the match with a team-leading 11 kills as the Adelphi University volleyball program swept Saint Michael's College on Friday evening to win its ninth straight.
Alberda led all players in kills as
Katie Schloss hit perfect with six kills on 10 attempts to post a .600 hitting percentage. The offense was paced by the combo of
Brenna Valsted and
Kambel Fiser, who accounted for 25 and 11 assists, respectively.
Adelphi once more used a team hitting percentage higher than .300 to secure the victory, totaling 13 errors through three sets. The Purple Knights, who remain winless in NE10 action were held to a sub .100 mark as a group.
The home team put up a fight in the second set after falling 25-18 in the opener, using 12 kills with only four errors to lead by two at 17-15. A kill from
Macarty McQueen sent Adelphi on a four point run to allow them to regain the advantage and close out the second with four of the final four points.
Saint Michael's saw an early lead crumble in the third set, as a block from Alberda and
Lilyen McCarthy evened the score at five, and a kill to follow put the Panthers on a path with a lead they would not relinquish. Fiser's service ace on match point closed the door for the home team, as the Brown and Gold secured a 25-17 victory.
The Panthers head into another key NE10 matchup with Saint Anselm College on Saturday, Oct. 22, who currently sit at 7-1 in league play and 18-6 overall.
