Garden City, N.Y. - In the penultimate home game of the 2022 season, the No. 13 Adelphi University men's soccer team dropped a 5-1 decision to The College of Saint Rose at Motamed Field on Saturday night.
The loss ends a seven-game unbeaten streak for the Panthers (7-2-4, 4-2-2 NE10), who have now dropped their last two meetings against Saint Rose (7-4-3, 3-3-3 NE10).
It was also the first time since 2015 that Adelphi had lost by a margin of four goals or more.
In a game that had over thirty combined shots, Saint Rose cashed in on five of its eight shots on target.
While the visitors leveled the game only 2:26 later, Adelphi still struck first. In the 16th minute,
Jesper Mikkelsen raced up the endline and fed
Filippo Peri in the box for a strike that was his second goal of the year.
Although the score wouldn't indicate it, the Panthers outpossessed the opposition at a 63 percent clip across the ninety-minute match.
Head Coach
Gary Book and his Adelphi squad will look to turn it around this Wednesday (Oct. 19) at Le Moyne College at 4 p.m.
