Colchester, Vt. - Nearly eclipsing its season-high output, the Adelphi University men's basketball program won its third straight on Tuesday evening, capturing an 86-69 victory over Saint Michael's College.
The win avenges their last outing with the Purple Knights from 2020, when the Panthers dropped a 63-79 decision inside the Center for Recreation and Sports.
Scoring more than 40 in both halves, Adelphi (13-6, 8-4 NE10) saw six players in double-figures, including all starters.
The teams traded the lead for a better part of the opening half, reaching a deadlock at 21-all with 7:21 left on the clock.
Isaiah Salter knocked down a three-pointer that sparked three straight makes from downtown and it was a 10-2 run - capped with a three from
Ronnie Silva - that gave the Panthers a 12-point advantage heading into the locker room.
Adonis Williams scored on four consecutive possessions for the visiting team to work the lead out to 15 after five minutes into the second half. A make from beyond the arc courtesy of
Jake Hlywiak under three minutes later made it a 20-point game, in favor of Adelphi, a margin they maintained for the rest of the contest.
Silva was the night's leading scorer with 18 as he and
Isaiah Salter both shot 6-for-12 from the field; Salter finishing with 16 points and two steals. Williams and Artistotelis Sotiriou both accounted for 12 points with Williams wrapping up his sixth double-double with 11 rebounds.
