Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's basketball team scored more than half of their points off of Franklin Pierce turnovers on Saturday afternoon, en route to securing a 76-60 victory over the Ravens inside the Center for Recreation and Sports.
The Ravens (7-5, 4-3 NE10) were averaging just under 10 turnovers per contest heading into today's Northeast-10 matchup, but the Panthers (12-6, 7-4 NE10) forced their opponents to commit their highest number of miscues to date, at 17.
Offense for the visitors was real quiet in the early going, as Adelphi managed to work its way out to a 19-6 lead after just seven minutes into the contest. The Ravens responded with a 13-5 run over the next eight minutes to come within two of the home team, as they managed to close the gap to be locked at 30 at the half.
Ronnie Silva's three-pointer at 11:34 in the second half sparked a 16-0 run for Adelphi that put them in the drivers' seat for the remainder of the contest.
Silva led the team with 8-of-15 shooting with 7-for-11 coming from beyond the arc to account for 25 points. Coalmon and Salter also found themselves in double-digits, chipping in 19 and 14, respectively while combining for 11 rebounds and six assists.
The men's team will be back on the road starting Tuesday, Jan. 25 at Saint Michael's College. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
