Worcester, Mass. - The Adelphi University women's basketball team extended its win streak to three straight Wednesday night with a 55-45 victory over Assumption College in Northeast-10 Conference action at Laska Gymnasium.
The win also improves the Panthers to 7-8 overall and betters their conference record to .500 at 5-5.
Adelphi led 12-6 midway through the first quarter, but a tightly-contested opening half resulted in the two teams heading into the locker room in a 24-24 tie.
A 13-7 third quarter that favored the visitors ultimately propelled the Panthers to victory.
After missing its first four shots of the quarter, Adelphi went 6-for-15 from the floor in the last 7:16, including three consecutive lay-ups to spark a 13-2 run.
Although Assumption (5-7, 2-5 NE10) came within a three of tying the game late in the fourth, the Panthers sank all six of their free throws down the stretch to seal it.
Three Adelphi players finished in double figures.
Rebecca Lee amassed a game-high 17 points and 13 rebounds for her second double-double in as many games.
Emily Miccile poured in 13 points, while
Korina Guerra added 10 points.
The Panthers dominated in the paint, to the tune of a 38-22 point differential.
