Delaney, Collins Collect Career-Highs in Volleyball Loss to GCU, 3-2

Lakewood, NJ - Despite career-high efforts from freshman Delaney Kiendra and junior Samantha Collins, the Adelphi University volleyball team dropped a 3-2 decision to Georgian Court on Thursday evening, marking the program's first loss to the Lions in 14 years.

Adelphi (11-4) was riding an eight-game win streak over Georgian Court (12-3) ahead of the match, but ultimately fell 16-14 in the fifth set to add a regional loss to their overall record this season.

Kiendra accounted for a match-high 20 kills as Collins chipped in a new career-high of 12. Defensively, both Jamie Yonker and Kambel Fiser reached double-digits, accounting for 22 and 14, respectively. Fiser was also responsible for 42 assists in the loss.

Adelphi held the advantage in every category except blocks, including a commanding 66-47 edge in kills. The Brown and Gold managed double-digit kills in each set - compared to the Lions who only reached 10 kills in two of five sets - but committed more errors both on attack and at the service line.

The Panthers return to their home gymnasium this Saturday, Oct. 2 when they welcome Northeast-10 Conference foe American International for a 1:00 p.m. contest. The program is also bringing awareness to Breast Cancer Awareness Month in their annual Dig Pink game.
