Clarion, PA - After dropping the first game of the 2021 season, the Adelphi University volleyball team came back on Friday afternoon to sweep their opponents, taking wins from Shippensburg and Clarion inside Tippin Gymnasium on the campus of the Golden Eagles.
Game One: Adelphi 3, Shippensburg 0 (26-24, 25-21, 25-18)
Nearly every member of the Panther roster made an appearance in the first game of the afternoon, with
Noelle Alberda leading the offense with nine kills in the three-set sweep.
Kambel Fiser paced the attack with 19 assists coupled with five digs and four block assists.
It was Adelphi's performance at the service line that made the difference in the opener, as they collected 12 service aces - led by
Jamie Yonker who also added 19 digs - as a team, compared to the Raiders three.
Game Two: Adelphi 3, Clarion 0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-23)
Taking on the hosts in the Friday night finale, the Panthers once again out-aced their opponents 12-3, proving to be the X-factor en route to a sweep on the day. Newcomer
Jaydin Nowak was responsible for eight of the team's aces, which she coupled with six digs to help out on defense.
Samantha Meehan contributed a new career-best 12 kills with just four errors through three sets as Fiser and
Brenna Valsted split setting duties as each chipped in 13 assists in the victory.
Adelphi returns to Tippin Gymnasium on Saturday, Sept. 4 for an 11:00 a.m. matchup against Ursuline. There will be no video stream for the contest, but livestats can be accessed
