Syracuse, N.Y. - In bounce-back fashion, the Adelphi University volleyball program opened up Northeast-10 Conference competition with a 3-0 win over Le Moyne on Saturday, after a Thursday evening loss to Molloy.
Rookie
Noelle Alberda led the Panthers (11-3, 1-0 NE10) on offense, as the lone member to record double-digit kills with 10.
Anna Oden was flawless on the attack, recording seven kills with zero errors over three separate sets.
Kambel Fiser was responsible for a team-high 33 assists as
Jamie Yonker once again led the defense with 17 digs.
Adelphi battled back from a 14-12 deficit in the first set courtesy of a 7-0 run with freshman
Jamaya Harris at the service line. For the match, the Panthers held an 8-2 advantage in service aces and led in every other category in their NE10 opener. After leading 23-16, a kill from
Samantha Meehan and a block from
Samantha Collins sealed the deal in the opener.
A 6-1 run midway through the second - in favor of Adelphi - set them up for a late run down the stretch to help move to 2-0 in the match. The visitors scored seven of the final eight points, with the final four coming once again with Harris at the service line.
With the third set at 10-all, Fiser served the next nine points to put Adelphi in a comfortable situation in the eventual final frame - kills from
Katie Schloss, Meehan and Collins highlighted the stretch, which ultimately turned into a sweep after the visiting team once more scored seven of the final eight points of the contest.
The team returns to action on Thursday, Sept. 30 when they travel to Georgian Court for a 7:00 p.m., non-conference contest.
