Manchester, N.H. - The Adelphi University field hockey team opened up conference play with a 6-2 win at Southern New Hampshire on Friday.
The Panthers (3-1, 1-0 NE10) came out strong in their first game in over two weeks, notching three goals in the opening quarter of play.
Giana McKeough broke open the scoring within the first two minutes of the contest. McKeough tallied one goal and two assists on the day for a team-best five points.
Kaylee Deleva extended her scoring streak to four games, netting two against the Penmen (0-5, 0-1 NE10). The senior leads all Panthers with eight goals in just four games.
Adelphi outshot Southern New Hampshire in the first quarter alone, 14-4. The Panthers ran up a 5-0 lead before the Penmen got on the board in the third quarter with two goals.
McKeough and Deleva were joined on the board by
Kelsey Catalano and
Alexandra Docyk, who recorded her first career goal.
Sophomore
Amanda Montiel made the start in the cage for Adelphi and came up with four saves in the game.
The field hockey team will return to action tomorrow (Sept. 25) at No. 5 Stonehill College at 1 p.m.
