Bridgeport, Conn. - With the help of nine team blocks, the Adelphi University volleyball program defeated the University of Bridgeport Wednesday evening, inside the Harvey Hubbell Gymnasium. 
Samantha Meehan once again led the attack with 14 kills and a near perfect performance, committing just one error to post a .500 hitting percentage.

Kambel Fiser added six and five block assists, respectively, as three others chipped in with stopping the Purple Knight offense. 
Kambel Fiser paced the Panthers (7-2) with 25 assists, notching her second consecutive double-double with 10 digs. 
Bridgeport (3-3) held the lead for most of the opening set, but a kill from 
Delaney Kiendra sparked a 6-1 run in favor of the Panthers for their first lead in the match. Big stops courtesy of Meehan, 
Samantha Collins and Fiser helped the visitors take five of the final six points to secure a 25-20 decision. 
Adelphi started off the second frame with a 4-0 run and the lead, which they never relinquished for the remainder of the contest. The hosts got within three but big stops at the net proved to be the competitive edge as the Purple Knights were kept at bay. Coming out of a Bridgeport timeout at 21-17 (Adelphi), Oden once again put a stop to the attack en route to being 2-0 in the match. 
Two of the Panthers seven service aces came in the opening points of the third and final set, as Fiser collected two in a matter of four points, to once again jump out ahead of the home team. The hosts staged a comeback to bring the game to seven-all, however a kill from Oden sparked a 7-1 run to put Adelphi ahead by eight. A miscue from the Panther attack allowed Bridgeport to come within one (18-17), but 
Jaydin Nowak's back-to-back aces sealed the deal as the Panthers closed out the contest with a 25-18 victory. 
Adelphi remains on the road for a double-feature at Wilmington University, featuring the hosting Wildcats and Virginia State University at 12:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., respectively.
